Leading boutique research agency and strategic planning consultancy Ruby Cha Cha celebrates 9th birthday and launches new offices in Surry Hills

Leading Australian boutique market research and strategic planning consultancy Ruby Cha Cha celebrated its 9th anniversary on 23 February 2017, which coincided with the launch of its brand new Surry Hills offices.

Launched in 2008 in the midst of the global financial crisis, Ruby Cha Cha was created with the ambition to fill a gap CEO Ellen Baron saw as a seasoned market research professional of more than 25 years standing, including as managing director for the Melbourne office of a large research organisation. “There were too many big agencies in the market. We wanted to create a more meaningful experience for the client, give them the ability to work with partners who get their business and understand both marketing and strategy” she said.

Since then, Ruby Cha Cha has had to navigate a turbulent environment and embrace disruption to create a distinctive personality on the market.

“More than ever, market research companies now need to understand how they can remain relevant in an agile research world, especially how to reinvent traditional methods to stand up to client needs and engage consumers in a more relevant and satisfying way” she said.

According to her, the emergence of psychology as the key driver of market research, with behavioural economics being at the centre of discussions across all sectors, is just the first of many changes to come. “While neuro and wearable technologies are growing in interest, I expect to see augmented reality truly having the most impact in the near future” she said.

“We’re walking into our tenth year with a lot of exciting things and projects in mind. I’m most excited about how we can shift the way we do research today. Consumer panels are losing relevancy and there are many new social media tools to help us in this area. At the same time, we need to generate a sound and thorough discussion on ethics around new ways of doing research.”

About Ruby Cha Cha

Reflecting on the agency’s nine years of existence, Baron said they have witnessed the tremendous impact technological disruption has already had on the industry.

Ruby Cha Cha is a leading Australian boutique market research and strategic planning consultancy. Launched in Sydney in 2008, the company has been delivering insight for nearly a decade which transforms the bottom-line of leading companies and well-known brands across a range of competitive and fast-paced markets experiencing disruption – including media, entertainment, FMCG, health and well-being. Ruby Cha Cha prides itself on delivering strong business recommendations that produce actionable outcomes for their clients. They do this through a unique combination of research disciplines encompassing qualitative and quantitative research through to ethnographic, semiotics and category insights. It’s this unequalled use of creative methodologies that allows Ruby to form strong client partnerships, and why clients choose to work long-term with Ruby Cha Cha.
